Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good. Jose Hernandez Delgadillo (illustratore). Limited Edition. One of a Limited Edition. '500 copies were printed. 250 in English. 250 in Spanish. Printing terminated on September 10 De 1963' This book is in English. Big, big book. 18 1/4 inches by 13 3/4 inches. You can see the covers in the photos. The previous owners of this book were Jack and Marmie Longacre. Jack Longacre practiced plastic reconstructive, and aesthetic surgery in Cincinnati, Ohio for 30 years. The author of this book, Mario Gonzalez-Ulloa, worked in the same profession in Mexico. Loose inside this book is a signed letter (see photo) from the author to the previous owners. The families were apparently quite close. On the title page, the author also wrote an inscription that reads 'to Jack and Marmie Longacre with appreciation and love.' Below that is a word (see photo) that I am having difficulty deciphering, and under that the year (which may be 1963 or 1967). That difficult to decipher word does not appear to be a signed name, but it's clear that the inscription is from the Longacre's friend, the author. You can see the covers in the photos. They are in quite nice condition. The gilt lettering on the front cover is very bright. On the spine some of the gilt is a little faded. The original black coloring of the spine is also clearly lightened/toned. The spine ends are in very good shape. There is a bump/crease above the bottom corner of the rear cover, also a light crease below the top corner of the rear cover. The bump at the rear bottom corner created a very light semi-crease above the bottom corners of a number of pages, pretty much only visible from the rear side of the pages, in any event not much of anything. The three cover edges are in really excellent condition. There is no rubbing anywhere. The four cover corners are in quite good condition. Despite the referenced bumps, there is no rubbing at any of the corners. The three page edges are very clean. The covers bow out a little bit, that is they do not lie flat. There is slight wear along part of both junctures between the inside covers and their facing end papers. You can see that in the photo of the letter from the author. This has not had a significant impact on the solidity of the covers. They are both solidly bound, although I would note that if you pull at the front cover from the side (although there is no need to) there is a very slight bit of give or jiggling over its bottom half. (Note that the white lines seen in the photo of the letter are part of the design). All of the pages are nicely, tightly bound. The pages are also in excellent condition. They are exceptionally clean. I didn't find any conspicuous soiling. There is a very occasional speck, nothing more than that. There are no placeholder creases, no turned-in corner creases. There are no markings in the book. No attachments of any kind. And no writing other than the aforementioned inscription by the author. This book comes with the original slipcase. It is in solid condition, no small achievement given the size and weight of the book. There are small tears at the sides of both spine ends. There is also a scuff at the top left corner of the front of the slipcase. There is a little bit of scuffing and rubbing at the bottom side of the slipcase. There are a few fairly small tan stains on the rear of the slipcase. I am limited to five photographs and I am prioritizing the covers of the book as well as the photographs of the signed letter and of the inscription. I will be happy to pass along photographs of the slipcase (I've already taken them) to anyone who requests to see them. Because I am running into the letter limitation in this Description window, I will direct anyone unfamiliar with the artist, Jose Hernandez Delgadillo, to his Wikipedia profile. And if you Google 'mario gonzalez-ulloa surgeon' you will find his obituary in 'Springer'. It will describe his illustrious career. Note that International shipping cost will exceed the quoted price due to the weight of this large book. Inscribed by Author(s).
