Compilation of some of the most famous stories from Herodotus, carefully chosen by the editor Gordon King to "introduce history as a living thing." Accompanied by the equally living illustrations of Russian-American artist Boris Artzybasheff, whose picture book "Seven Simons" was named a Caldecott Honor Book and whose illustrations were frequently featured in Life, Fortune, and Time magazines.
