This is the true first edition of 500 copies featuring charming line drawings by Mary Weymark-Goss. It is SIGNED by the author on the title page and inscribed to a fellow Canadian author -- "For Daniel David Moses & the death of western culture, Best always." The late Moses was a Canadian aboriginal poet and playwright, and this book is among a collection of books by Canadian poets obtained by this bookseller which are dedicated to him with sincere gratitude and admiration. A small format perfect bound paperback with card covers. (A second edition was published in 1983 in a larger format without the illustrations). 47 pp. A collection of 17 poems and Kelly's only poetry collection. A well-preserved example. Minor softening of the corners. Ghost of pencil erasure top edge of the half-title page. Shelf wear to the surface of the covers at the extremities, especially along the spine on the front and back covers and at the heel and crown of the spine. Kelly was awarded the Books in Canada/AJ Smith Best First Novel of the Year Award for his book I Do Remember the Fall (1977) and the Governor General's Award for Literature for his novel A Dream Like Mine (1987).
