No Binding. Condizione: Very Good. Al Barbelle (illustratore). As it says on the front of this antique sheet Music, the hit song, "Rolling Stones (All Come Rolling Home Again)", was successfully introduced by Anna Chandler. The word were by Edgar Leslie, and the music was composed by Archie Gottler. The sheet music was published in 1916 by Kalmar Puck & Abrahams Consolidated, in New York. Anna Chandler was a popular vaudeville actress and mezzo-soprano singer. She also performed for the Orpheum circuit, for which she sang mostly songs in Italian and Hebrew. Her photograph is featured on the front cover of this sheet music . She stands in a gown looking back over her shoulder in a somewhat sultry mood. Surrounding her photo is an illustration by Al Barbelle depicting a urban skyline of skyscrapers at night and a crowd of people flowing toward an arch with a sign saying HOME. The man at the front of the crowd seems happy to be home again. Briefly the song is about young people wasting their lives in the big city, only to find happiness once again when they return to their country homes. The rear exterior has an ad for the sheet music of "I've Got the Blues for Home Sweet Home". I sense a theme here, probably pretty common in those worrisome years of World War I. FORMAT : Sheet Music TITLE : Rolling Stones (All Come Rolling Home Again) PERFORMER : Anna Chandler (1884 - 1957) WORDS : Edgar Leslie (1885 - 1976) MUSIC : Archie Gottler (1896 - 1959) IMPRINT : Kalmar Puck & Abrahams Consolidated PLACE : 1570 Broadway, New York DATE : 1916 COVER ILLUSTRATION : Al Barbelle PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION : Pictorial Sheet Music; printed in dark gray-blue; 10 5/8" x 13 1/2" ; 5 pages (pagination includes exterior - four pages of music, which includes a single loose leaf laid within. This is one sheet folded once and a single sheet laid within. Rear exterior advertises another sheet music song. INCIDENTAL : This version, promoting Anna Chandler, is much less common than the one promoting Sophie Tucker, who also sang "Rolling Stones", and who was the more famous of the two chanteuses. CONDITION - VERY GOOD - Creasing to bottom fore-edge corner tip - surface creasing and rumple are modest; a bit of near-negligible nicking to spine fold, which is has no splitting. Basically nice and clean - displays nicely.
Pictorial Cover/soft. Condizione: Very Good. First Edition. Brown/black decorated covers with picture "Sucessfully Featured by Aileen Stanley." small tape repair spine. 6 pgs sheet music. Waltz Ballad With Novelty Fox Trot Chorus. scarce. Folio - over 12" - 15" tall.

Soft cover. Condizione: Very Good. 1st Edition. Demeaning lyrics by two Jewish songwriters and sung by Jewish singer Sophie Tucker (pictured on front cover)."Come and lay your kinkey head on mammy's shoulder.stop those tears from running down your little cheeks of chocolate brown.though your skin is dark as night I know your little pickaninny heart is white." Terrible duties and racism suffered by Black American soldiers in WW1 including those dying in battle deserve better recognition. Does Tucker stand for interracial relationship? Unclear cartoon drawing on cover of white kid and dog facing a firing squad of other kids with Black boy crying? Too many opaque messages here. Rare.
