Dieser ist im Gegensatz zu einem industriell unter kontrollierten Bedingungen gefertigten Baustoff aufgrund seiner Entstehungsgeschichte und seiner Ablagerungsbedingungen mehr oder minder inhomogen. Es muss daher mit örtlich und zum Teil auch zeitlich streuenden Bodenkennwerten gerechnet werden. Erschwerend kommt hinzu, dass wir mit unseren üblichen Untersuchungsmethoden wie Bohrungen oder Sondierungen den Untergrund nicht flächenhaft erkunden können, sondern nur nadelstichartig Informationen über den Untergrundaufbau erhalten.
