An immense 24-stone goalkeeper in the days when football was rather more physical was always going to please the crowds. Foulke did so between 1895 and 1915 at Bradford and Sheffield United - at a time when The Blades were one of the finest sides in the country. His life story is crammed with anecdotes and this is well brought out in this book - the first on the subject - about a colourful hero who was once described by C.B.
