A heartbroken saloon owner joins up with a band of outlaws, only to later face off against his brother, the town marshal. Featuring a late-career appearance by Frances Farmer as Calamity Jane. From the archive of noted Hollywood still photographer Ray Jones. Born in Wisconsin on January 1, 1901, Jones worked for Paramount Pictures in the early 1930s, and went on to be the head of the still photography department at Universal Pictures in 1935, where he worked well into the 1950s. 10 x 8 inches. A commercial pilot grounded for reckless flying decides to start his own flying school, which becomes the profitable hub of a new government-funded civilian pilots' training program. Blue titled wrappers, noted as FINAL on the front wrapper, rubber-stamped copy No. 13 and production No. 1856, dated August 22, 1939. Distribution page present, with receipt intact. Title page present, with credits for screenwriters Lou Breslow and Owen Francis. 158 leaves, with last page of text numbered 152. Mimeograph duplication, rectos only, with blue revision pages throughout, dated variously between 8/28/39 and 9/19/39. Pages Near Fine, wrapper Very Good plus with some minor tears and yapping to the right edge, bound internally with three gold brads.

Final script for the 1935 film. Specially bound copy belonging to screenwriter Jerry Wald, with his name in gilt on the front board. With annotations in manuscript pencil throughout, checking off scenes. Jerry Wald is best remembered for his long and successful association with Warner Brothers as both a screenwriter and producer of a number of notable films, including "Mildred Pierce" (1945), "Humoresque" (1946), "Key Largo" (1948), and "Flamingo Road" (1949). In the 1950s he moved to Twentieth Century-Fox, and was the producer there for "An Affair to Remember" (1957), "Peyton Place" (1957), and "Sons and Lovers" (1960). A college bandleader decides to keep his band together after graduation. They rise to fame, and he falls in love with a beautiful dancer along the way. Bound in full maroon leather, with gilt titles on the spine and front board. Distribution page present, with receipt removed. Title page integral with the distribution page, dated 9/11/34, noted as FINAL, with a Warner Bros. stamp and a stamp noting copy No. 23. 126 leaves, with last page of text numbered 124. Mimeograph duplication, rectos only, with 16 blue revision pages bound in at the rear, dated between 10/11/34 and 10/13/34. Pages about Fine, binding Very Good plus, lightly scuffed and edgeworn.

Final Draft script for the 1947 film. Copy likely belonging to an uncredited costume designer, with annotations in manuscript pencil throughout. Groucho Marx's first solo film appearance, and his first with a real mustache as opposed to one made with grease paint. Marx plays an incompetent theatrical agent whose only client is Carmen Miranda, in her first film after leaving Twentieth Century-Fox, and who he tries to pass off as two different performers. Set in New York City, and shot there on location. Tan titled wrappers, noted as Final Draft on the front wrapper, dated October 28, 1946. Title page integral with the first page of the text. 97 leaves, with last page of text numbered 97. Mimeograph on pink stock, rectos only. Pages Near Fine, wrapper Good, bound with two silver brads.
