Very good. - Over 45 words typed on 8-1/4 inch high by 6 inch wide "Houghton Mifflin" stationery with the publishing house's sienna colored device at the top. Writing to the American lecture manager James B. Pond, Ferris Greenslet informs him that he received "a wire this morning from… James Willard Schultz saying that your representative has not appeared as yet." He asks if Pond might not "want to communicate with him direct, at the University Club, Los Angeles?" Signed in full "Ferris Greenslet". Folded for mailing, the left quarter of the page is slightly wrinkled. Very good. After working at the Boston Library and The Boston Advertiser, Ferris Greenslet [1875-1959] became an associate editor of The Atlantic Monthly from 1902 to 1907. In 1910 he was appointed a director of the Boston publishers Houghton Mifflin and in 1933 the general manager of its trade department, holding both positions until his retirement in 1942. He was the author of several biographies and a collection of reminiscences "Under the Bridge" [1943].
