Es kommt zu Spannungen zwischen den Schwestern, als sie sich über die Pflegebedürftigkeit ihrer Mutter verständigen müssen. Die Arbeit an der neuen Schule gefällt Sarah und sie freundet sich rasch mit einem ihrer Kollegen an. Nach einigen Wochen verschwindet eine ehemalige Schülerin der Schule und Sarah beschließt, die Sache nachzugehen. Auch mit der Nachbarin von Joan bahnt sich schnell Ärger an. In dem kleinen Dorf auf dem Land gibt es also auch durchaus größere Herausforderungen. Sarahs Leben in den fünf Monaten bis zum Brexit-Tag entwickelt sich zunehmend komplexer statt ruhiger.
