Brown paper covers mildly soiled, nicks and bumping along edges which overlap those of the text block, small paper loss at spine heel, mild crease to front cover with gilt stamped border and title lettering dulled, rear cover's bottom fore-edge corner creased. Light foxing and soiling to edges; interior foxing strongest on title leaf and pages 35-36 with some soiling and light foxing to other leaves; rusted binding staples evident by some spine margin tears to page 35 but binding still firm. A good+ copy. Features numerous Jewish jokes with many in dialect (lots of "oy veys" and the like) and playing upon the usual pervasive stereotype of fiscal thrift which too is a quality attributed to Scots. Tipped-in frontispiece illustration with other illustrations inset amongst text and all credited to Gregor McGregor which is probably a pseudonym as well as for author Allan Junior is, according to OCLC, the pen name of John Allan.…
