Det innebär att det funktionella kombineras med det… vackra. Också på de ting som finns för dagligt bruk i våra hem bör i man ställa estetiska krav. När 'Vackrare vardagsvara' kom 1919 innebär den en ny syn på vardagens estetik. Boken blev ett genombrott både för Svenska Slöjföreningen och för skriftens författare Gregor Paulsson. Efter mer än 60 år kommer nu 'Vackrare vardagsvara' i en ny upplaga. Det är en exakt återgiven faksimilupplaga, med ett förord av Arthur Hald: 'För den som intresserar sig för dagens designproblematik är det förbluffande hur mycket man kan hämta ur denna publikation. [.] Sju decennier efteråt är 'Vackrare vardagsvara' mycket aktuell". - - - Vackrare vardagsvara var en skrift av Gregor Paulsson utgiven 1919 för en utställning på Svenska mässan i Göteborg av Svenska Slöjdföreningen. Skriften propagerade för att konstnärer skulle arbeta direkt med fabrikerna för att producera vardagsföremål av hög kvalitet. På så sätt skulle genomtänkt formgivna produkter bli tillgängliga för alla. Begreppet är inspirerat efter förebild ifrån tyska Deutscher Werkbund. Dessa socialt engagerade principer presenterades i Sverige redan under Hemutställningen 1917 på Liljevalchs i Stockholm och begreppet blev med tiden något av en slogan för Svenska slöjdföreningen.
