To provide balance, the intellectual passion of van Deyssel and ter Braak mirror the writer's endless demand for integrity and for adequate forms of expression. Writing in the Flemish language, the idiom of the southern Netherlands,- is given particular attention, so that the role of the Flemish literary movements is brought into .focus.
