Aggiungi al carrelloHardback. Condizione: Very Good. First Edition. 1824. First edition. lxxxi, 478pp. and 4 plates. Robert Kaye Greville (1794-1866) was born at Bishop Auckland, Durham, and later settled in Edinburgh. He was a noted mycologist, bryologist and botanist, and was also an accomplished artist and illustrator of natural history. He has limited this guide to the flora of Edinburgh and district to a distance of ten miles, in order that almost every plant introduced is attainable by the student in a morning's walk. To render the work as useful as possible, he has added a brief introduction to the Class Cryptogamia, and illustrated it with original figures. The characters of the genera are arranged synoptically at the commencement of the work; and a reference is found at the end of each character, to the page where the species are described in the body of the work. The book is bound in later (probably mid to late 20th century) full leather boards with gold titling on a leather label and five raised bands on the spine. The case of the book is in very good condition with a little scuffing and some damp spotting to the leather on the boards. The contents are tight and clean with some foxing and light damp marking to the plates. There is no inscription.…
