Les angles des 8 premières gravures ont été coupés et restaurés (les coupures n'affectant que marginalement les impressions). Le recueil avait été numéroté à la main, et l'absence d'une gravure numérotée 9 correspond soit à une probable erreur initiale de numérotation, soit à un manque dans la seconde série ("Misericordia"). On connaît peu de choses sur la vie du graveur Gaspare Grispoldi, dont on sait qu'il fut notamment actif à Venise de 1610 à 1625.
