This book essentially takes the place of 'The Lands and Peoples of East Africa', published in 1960, to reflect the sweeping changes that have occurred in what was formerly British East Africa, with the independence of Tanganyika in 1961, Uganda in 1962, and Kenya and Zanzibar in 1963. It includes chapters on Mombasa, the African Peoples, Traditions and Culture, and Wild Life. The book is bound in the original green paper covered boards with white titling on the spine and front board. This is an ex-library copy with a few of the usual library indications, but is otherwise in very good condition. There is a 1" tape stain on both boards and near the bottom of the spine and the spine is slightly faded. The contents are tight and clean and the only library marks appear to be traces of a removed label and a "withdrawn" stamp on the front free endpaper; some reference numbers on the title page; and a small stamp on the bottom of the last page and top edge of the text block. The unclipped dustwrapper has some shelf wear with light soiling and light bumping to the spine ends.…
