No date to be found on the title or copyright page. 307 pages, followed by a few pages of book advertisements. Good condition. Binding is sturdy and tight. Covers are lightly rubbed at the c…orners. Head and foot of the spine are lightly bumped. Pages toned. Page edges, endpapers and title page are foxed. Some neatly written penciled notes to the margins. Thomas Lovejoy has written on the front free endpaper, "Tom Lovejoy New Haven, Conn. January 1, 1964". Several other small numbers and names on the endpapers, but they do not appear to be written by Lovejoy. Overall good condition. This book is from the collection of Thomas Lovejoy. Dr. Lovejoy was an influential ecologist, field biologist, and activist; former head of the Amazon Biodiversity Center, World Wildlife Fund, and advisor to the United Nations and Smithsonian Institution. He is credited with introducing the term 'biological diversity' to the mainstream environmental movement. In addition, he was a passionate collector of books on the natural world.
