Et c'est dans un esprit sim…ilaire qu on lira le titre du présent recueil. Car d'architecture surréaliste, il n'en est pas, ou si peu que le sujet serait vite clos. Paradoxalement, c'est peut-être pourtant par cette absence même que le surréalisme trouve sa place en architecture. Fervents promoteurs de l'imagination contre le réel, de la révolte contre l'édification, les surréalistes n'en auront pas moins, par leurs élaborations imaginaires, posé un horizon qui, a posteriori, apparaît comme le négatif parfait du modernisme architectural. Ils auront encore, par leur regard électif, établi une sorte de contre-tradition architecturale, mais remonte aussi bien plus loin dans le passé. Le poids de cette tradition, l'élan vers cette utopie auront ainsi fondé une véritable exigence architecturale, qui devait, accompagner la progressive sortie de l'architecture des canons modernistes.
