Half red leather, with hand marbled boards, mean that to do such a binding today would be expensive. To commission this standard today would cost at least five times the price of this one. Fine bindings are highly sought after collectables because they are unique, expressly for those seeking books that are built to last. Such books impart a refined impression to a home. If the book is also a timeless classic, as this certainly is, it becomes a permanent keepsake. These gorgeous books are made to last for centuries. The actual copy used here is not valuable, but it is rendered collectable by the craftsman who took such trouble to bind it.
