Here, a set of inspiring early issues of Atlantis: A Journal of Research - collected treatises on the ongoing uncertainties about the captivating Atlantean enigma, as well as other mysteries of similar ilk - all of which have stood the test of time without true resolution. See… contents scans for an idea of those. Edited by the estimable Egerton Sykes, with contributions from an impressive array of contributors over the years of this unique publication. London: Markham House Press, Ltd., 1955 through 1960. First Editions of nine of the most remarkable issues, in Very Good Plus condition for what they are (see images) . Octavo, light blue printed staple wraps, imprinted in red and black. Generally all are 20 pp., including paginated covers. Egerton Sykes, Issues included are May, 1955 [Volume 8, No.4]; July, 1955 [Volume 8, No. 5]; November, 1955 [Volume 9, No. 1]; January, 1956 [Volume 9, No. 2]; March, 1956 [Volume 9, No.3]; September, 1956 [Volume 9, No. 6]; July, 1957 [Volume 10, No. 5]; September, 1957 [Volume 10, No. 6] ; and December, 1960 [Volume 14, No. 1]. A sturdy, clean, handsome group. One of the remarkable Sykes' important journals in the field of Atlantology, of which many consider him to be the father. A one-time British intelligence officer and diplomat, Sykes became world-famous for his researches on the legendary continent of Atlantis. As a researcher, collector, writer and publisher in that field and the broader field of paranormal phenomena in general, the founder of three organizations - The Atlantis Research Center, The Hoerbiger Institute, and The Avalon Society - and the publisher through his Markham House publishing company of four magazines, including two bimonthly research journals, Atlantis (this one) and New World Antiquity, Sykes was a peerless and seminal influence. These issues include, of course, a wide variety of articles dealing with Atlantis, the Pyramids, Mythologies as expansion on historical fact, and a number of inexplicable events. An extremely hard to find publication from Atlantology and the paranormal. Dare ya to find such a group (modern reprints don't count - if there are any). These are the Real MCoy - 1st Editions of a very special genre - from back in the day, but still relevant. And collectible. And Rare. 001139/ L103.
