Dabei werden von Befürwortern, besonders in der so genannten Esoterikszene, mitunter wahllos die verschiedensten Methoden praktiziert und unter dem Begriff 'Mystik' subsumiert. Für Kritiker hingegen ist Mystik, gleich welcher Ausprägung, nichts anderes als ein romantischer Irrationalismus, der in periodischen Abständen die westliche Welt befällt. Zwischen diesen Fronten will diese Arbeit eine Mittelstellung einnehmen und dabei klären, was 'Mystik' im eigentlichen Sinn bedeutet und welche Strömungen in der Religionsgeschichte zu Recht das Etikett 'Mystik' tragen.Immer mehr Menschen suchen Führung auf ihrem religiösen Weg. Deswegen ist 'Mystagogik', also die Führung zu den Mysterien der Wirklichkeit, gewissermaßen die immanente Programmatik der angesprochenen neuen Bewegungen. Dabei kommt es allerdings zu allerlei Fehlentwicklungen. Diese weitgehend außer Acht lassend, will die Arbeit mystagogische Grundstrukturen herausarbeiten und deren Vorkommen in den Weltreligionen darstellen. Dabei wird als zentrales mystagogisches Ferment das Meister-Schüler-Verhältnis in den Mittelpunkt der Betrachtung gestellt.Als pädagogische Grundlegung wird die 'Anthropologische Pädagogik' OTTO FRIEDRICH BOLLNOWs vorgestellt. Insbesondere die von der deutschen Existenzphilosophie angeregten 'unstetigen Formen der Erziehung' als Teil von BOLLNOWs anthropologischer Pädagogik sind geeignet, um zu den Themen 'Mystik' und 'Mystagogik' in Beziehung gesetzt zu werden. Es folgen Überblicke über die Phänomene Mystik, Mystagogik und, exemplarisch, über das indische Gurutum. In drei Synopsen werden Bezüge dieser Phänomene zur Pädagogik im Allgemeinen sowie zu BOLLNOWs Unstetigkeitspädagogik im Besonderen herausgearbeitet.Die zirkuläre Struktur der Arbeit beschließend werden die von BOLLNOW als pädagogische Phänomene behandelten 'unstetigen Formen der Erziehung' als mystagogische Phänomene neu formuliert.In einem abschließenden Resümee werden folgende Grund- und Leitthesen der Arbeit beurteilt:1.
