During the 1920s, the art of color photography was still in its infancy, due to both its difficulty and expense. Many artists chose to hand-color the photographs, creating a unique visual effect. The 1920s in Sweden were also marked by the widespread construction of their characteristic summer houses. Out of this combination of events, the work of Marco Pl?ss originated.
