S. is unidentified, but in advance of the book's first chapter, in a section entitled, 'Advertisement to the English Edition,' he claims to have translated this edition - 'not without diffidence.' This is a half leather, pocket-sized, publication with marbled decorative boards. The spine is ribbed with a gilt title; set against a black background. Pale brown pastedowns/endpapers. Condition (book): sound with some fraying of the leather at the edges/corners; as well as towards the head of the spine. Tight binding. (although some of the book?s binding material is visible at the facing page/contents page hinge - see image). Condition (internal): mildly tanned throughout - with occasional spotting.
