[]""Mit ihren in Anlehnung an Hermann Fürst von Pückler-Muskau entstandenen Reisebeschreibungen (u. a. 'Orientalische Briefe', 3 Bde., 1844) und Gesellschaftsromanen (u. a. 'Gräfin Faustine', 1841) wurde Hahn-Hahn zu einer der populärsten Schriftstellerinnen ihrer Zeit. Unter dem Eindruck der Revolution 1848 und nach dem Tod ihres Lebensgefährten 1849 trat sie 1850 zum Katholizismus über, absolvierte ein Noviziat in Angers und gründete in Mainz das Kloster 'Zum guten Hirten', das sie unterhielt und in dem sie seit 1854 selbst wohnte.
