SIGNED AND INSCRIBD BY THE AUTHOR, IN BLACK INK, ON FFEP 'Andrea With best wishes from Tony Haig-Thomas, Old Warden 2.IX.10.' Some minuscule edge wear to top of jacket and spine, corners very slightly bruised, not price clipped (price on back jacket £16.00), no other inscriptions, internally clean tight and square, overall a vg++ copy, looks hardly read. 173pp, illustrated. Tony Haig-Thomas tells his highly personal story of a young man in hog heaven (well, most of the time) but also painting an affectionate and authentic picture of that Air Force that he loved so much. Some of his descriptions of flying are lyrical. Passages on operational flying in Venoms and Hunters out of Aden (and ground operations with the Army) are exciting and play down the gallantry involved. If you know what it was like to be in the Royal Air Force in the late 50s and early 60s, then you must wallow in the nostalgia generated by Tony's story. If you would like to know what the Air Force was like in those days, then read this book, because it is the real thing. If you are just curious to know more about Tony, then much will be revealed by this book. Tony Haig-Thomas was one of the trustees of the Shuttleworth aircraft museum at Old Warden in Beds, where he evidently signed this book. Signed by Author(s).
