From the introduction: "The section hereafter devoted to illuminated manuscripts executed before 1600 describes all the notable illuminated and textual Italian manuscripts at present contained in the collections of The Pierpont Morgan Library. Some sixty other Italian manuscripts in the Library, principally texts from the second half of the fifteenth century and later, have been omitted as lacking sufficient distinction or significance. Re productions are provided for 59 of the 103 manuscripts described. The Library contains a considerable number of Italian autograph letters and documents written before 1600 by poets, artists, explorers, statesmen, princes and prelates, of which a minor but representative fraction, chosen for intrinsic interest, is included in this survey." Minor marks to fore-edge of text block, a few light pencil notes, Good.
