James Armsey was not only the Public Relations officer for the Signal Corps, but also the Executive at the Ford Foundation where he oversaw nearly $500 million in grants, denying grants to segregated universities, thereby leading to the admission of black students to many major universities in the 1960's. This copy is VG, in red cloth with gilt design on front and gilt title panel on the spine. From the Public Relations Office at Camp Kohler, California with those stamps on top page edges, FEP, title page, and BEP. 16 illustrations by Andre Jandot. Exterior is rich. Gilt a touch faded. Edges, tips, and spine ends with only hints of wear. Inside otherwise unmarked, crisp, and tight with very modest toning. SCARCE with only one other copy on Abe as of January 2022. Outstanding provenance. Inscribed by Author(s).
