The catalogue for an exhibition of work by Harry Shunk held at the Musee d'Art Moderne et d'Art Contemporain, Nice, July 3 - September 6, 1992. Shunk (1924-2006) and Janos Kender (1937-1983) were photographers who recorded actions in the 1960s as well as documented ephemeral exhibitions, often working with the artists to produce photographs that constituted a new work. The show this catalogue accompanied presented the photographs made to document the 1971 Pier 18 exhibition. Twenty-seven artists were invited to use the abandoned pier and each work was recorded in photographs, most as per their written instructions. The catalogue reprints the instructions from the artists that provided them as well as the photographic documentation. The artists who participated in Pier 18 were: Vito Acconci, David Askevold, John Baldessari, Robert Barry, Bill Beckley, Mel Bochner, Daniel Buren, Jan Dibbets, Terry Fox, Dan Graham, Douglas Huebler, Lee Jaffe, Richards Jarden, Gordon Matta-Clark, Mario Merz, Robert Morris, Dennis Oppenheim, Allen Ruppersberg, Italo Scanga, Richard Serra, Michael Snow, Keith Sonnier, Wolfgang Stoerchle, John Van Saun, George Trakas, William Wegman, and Lawrence Weiner.
