Hausmann (1782-1859) war Mineraloge, Geologe und ein Pionier der landwirtschaftlic…hen Bodenkunde. Seit 1811 bekleidete er - als Nachfolger Johann Beckmanns - einen Lehrstuhl für Mineralogie und Technologie an der Universität Göttingen, musste deshalb neben Bergbau- und Eisenhüttenkunde auch über Land- und Forstwirtschaft lesen. In der Geologie lag sein Schwerpunkt in der Untersuchung der norddeutschen Gebirge, besonders des Weserberglandes und des Oberharzes.
