Aggiungi al carrelloHardcover. Condizione: Near Fine. Condizione sovraccoperta: Fine. voices, Joni Mitchell; by Joni Mitchell with Gilles Hebert, editor; The Mendell Art Gallery, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, 2000. From Gilles Hebert's introduction - The exhibition voices: Joni Mitchell, is the first retrospective of the Visual Art of Joni Mitchell. The exhibition title, voices, is more than an obvious nod to Mitchell's contributions to music and words over the years. While these contributions have power and importance well beyond the confines of any era or style and continue to provide the basis for numerous public presentations, little is known about Joni Mitchell's visual art. When I first came to Saskatoon's Mendell Art Gallery as Director, I knew little about the place besides its physical position on the Canadian prairies and its location, in the broadest sense, as the place Joni Mitchell was from. I knew as well that Joni Mitchell maintained a strong connection to the place as evidenced in the recurring references in her music. I was also somewhat familiar with her visual art. It wasn't until I began to research her visual art in more depth that I contemplated an exhibition of the work of Joni Mitchell. Her visual art, I found out, could stand alone as the basis for the exhibition. Working with Joni Mitchell was a pleasure, like a ride on a quick-moving train. This large, square format book, just over 10 inches, 63 pages is in near-fine condition. Some miscreant ripped out the front blank page, tearing off some of the paper covering the inside of the front board. Accordingly, I have reduced the price by three hundred dollars. Everything else about the book is fine, including the dust jacket that is now in a protective mylar wrap. A wonderful and scarce book about an aspect of this Canadian icon that the vast majority of us knew nothing about. She is a terrific artist who is a pretty good songwriter and singer, as well.
