It is of uncertain authorship, but cited as the work of "Hegesippus" or "Egesippus." It was transmitted among the works of and sometimes attributed to Ambrose, Bishop of Milan. Title preceded by Dutch translations of works by Flavius Josephus. Title page in red and black " Short closed tear at base of title page, privilege page on verso; foliated: [6], 402, [12] register, [1], 86 (Egesippus), [2]; some page edges with rubbing, a couple corner repairs but no loss to text or images, numerous engraved illustrations scattered throughout; this copy lacks an engraved title page found in some copies, and begins with the full title page in red and black; also lacking is the full title page (also in red and black) for the 86-folio Egesippus section; a photocopy of this title page is provided.
