Aggiungi al carrelloHardcover. Condizione: Near Fine. With several plates. Originally published under the title "De vermakelijke avonturier" in 1695, and later translated to French by Heinsius himself. The book, full of Dutch humor and sometimes quite cheeky, was reprinted under the title of "Vie et aventures surprenantes de Mirandor" (or Life and surprising adventures of Mirandor). First edition is from 1729.Nicolaas Heinsius was a physician and scholar, born in The Hague. Doctor to Queen Christina of Sweden and was appointed resident at the Swedish court. He also worked for the Electors of Brandenburg and Cleves. In 1680 he was banned from Holland for manslaughter. He was the son of the poet Nicolaas Heinsius (1620-1681). The book was originally published under the title "De vermakelijke Avonturier" in 1695. Bound in contemporary uniform calf with a red morocco letterpiece and with a gilt spine. 13.8 x 7.8 cm. Red-colored edges and marbled pastedowns. Signs of wear: slightly rubbed, some small damages. Overall in good condition.
