Heintzelman was a noted American early 20th C etcher known for the quality of his minatures. 1 of 100. "Ed 100" pencilled in @ lower right. Also signed in the plate: "Heintzelman Paris 1929". Flawless. NO foxing, aging or any other stain or soiling anywhere on the sheet. No title but might be "Tete de Bouquiniste". Old man's head turned to his right, arms are folded and image is from the folded arms up. No scans here in ABE, for two scans see same entry in Biblio. FINE print. Pencil SIGNED "Arthur Wm Heintzelman" @ lower left.

Hardcover. Condizione: Very good. Paper over boards with a paper spine label on the front cover. The frontispiece is an original etching numbered and signed by Heintzelman. The interior is bright and clean, the covers are lightly soiled and the paper over the spine is chipped in a few places. Overall a very good copy. The untitled etching, numbered 85, is a fine specimen and is still very bright and clean. A nice copy in very good condition. Signed.

Light blue/gray paper-over-boards, titled in black with buckram spine and printed label; folio; 124pp; illustrated with original etching by Benson plus reproductions of 68 images; similarly titled dust jacket; limited to 400 numbered (#141) copies; foreword by Arthur William Heintzelman. One of a five-volume set issued between 1917 and 1959. The first four volumes contained a Benson signed etching as frontispiece. Benson passed before the completion of the last volume. This copy is in VG condition with light cover wear, internally clean & bright with etching and tissue guard perfect. The uncommon jacket, printed on thin paper, is in very good condition with some edge chipping with a small chip to crown of spine. A very nice example of this work.

Folio (the work was published in this large format (33 x 25.4 cm) so the reproductions could all be original size. ENTIRELY UNCUT, FINE AND BRIGHT. A matchless set of perhaps the only standard catalogue of an American printmaker published in France.

Volume 3 published 1923, edition 525, this one numbered 345, etching frontispiece "Frontispiece Volume Three (flying ducks)". Volume 4 published 1929, edition 600, this one numbered 348, etching frontispiece "Flying Pintail." Volume 5 published 1959, edition 400, this one numbered 353, etching frontispiece "Grouse on a Pine Bough." This is the original fully illustrated catalogue raisonne of the Frank Benson's graphic work. Each volume contains an original etching by the artist, volume 1 through 4 contain signed etchings, volume 5 an unsigned etching (volume 5 published after the artist's death). Each contains an original etching by the artist and twelve reproductions of other works by him; each original and each reproduction has a tissue guard; each original etching is signed (one is initialed) by the artist in pencil. Each volume contains an essay on the artist. From an edition limited to 75 copies. Each volume contains the original typed and notarized certificate of authenticity. Each has been opened to verify the presence of the original and the copies; the ribbons, seals, glassine wrappers, and certificates are present. Except for the etching in Volume X, the paper of which shows ripples, all etchings and all reproductions are fine, as are the bindings and text pages. Neither Volume I, Volume II, nor Volume XII has a box. Each of these three is wrapped in heavy brown paper as issued with a part of the red seal intact. Volume I is copy #2 of 75. Volume II is exactly like Volume I except it bears copy #45. Volumes III to XI are housed in the original brown boxes. Each box has a neat pen inscription of the artist's last name on the edge of the spine of the box. Four of the boxes have a slight damp stain on the bottom edge.
