Wer DDR sammelt und schon einmal hinter der Mi.Nr. 442 einen entsprechenden Hinweis auf "Kleine-Fälschungen" gelesen hat, weiß, worum es in dieser Broschüre geht: um einen Fälscher, der in den 50er-Jahren mit seinen raffinierten Fälschungen Sammler schädigte und für Aufsehe…n sorgte. Der Autor, damals selbst als Leiter der Sektion Philatelie Calau im Kulturbund mit diesen Fälschungen befasst, heute ein seit vielen Jahren anerkannter Prüfexperte im Bund Philatelistischer Prüfer, hat diese Jahre aktiv miterlebt und schildert, wie diese Fälschungen erstmals entdeckt und gemeldet, später recherchiert und systematisch verfolgt wurden. Anhand der ihm zugänglichen Original-Prozessakten sowie vieler Briefe und Karten von Sammlern der damaligen Zeit, bringt er Licht in die damaligen Hintergründe, die bis heute weitgehend nicht bekannt sind. Der geneigte Leser wird allerdings den zweiten Teil des Buches, nämlich einen Katalog der Kleine-Fälschungen, besonders zu schätzen wissen. Weigelt differenziert die Fälschungen in die Gruppen "Falschaufdrucke auf Offsetmarken, auf Buchdruckmarken, auf Hochwassermarken und auf Ergänzungswerten", listet dann die Ganzfälschungen, vorderseitige Aufdrucke und rückseitige Propagandatexte, bevor er schließlich auch die ihm bekannten Falschstempel registriert. Der besondere Wert des Buches liegt darin, dass so gut wie alle Fälschungen nicht nur exakt und akribisch beschrieben, sondern auch abgebildet sind. Vier Farbtafeln ermöglichen zusätzlich einen noch besseren visuellen Eindruck. Ein Nachtrag zum Ende des Buches macht deutlich, dass es aber immer noch neue Funde gibt, außerdem merkt der Autor an, dass auch heute sicherlich noch zahlreiche Kleine-Fälschungen in den Alben der Sammler schlummern. Grund genug, dieses Buch zu kennen und daraus seine Vorteile zu ziehen.
