Colorful endpapers featuring storefronts of Dodge City. 50 pp 4to. Dodge City was the "cowboy capital of the world" in the late 1800s where it was the endpoint of many cattle drives. It was also the rendezvous point of the picturesque characters of the Old West and the point were buffalo hides were shipped to the east coast. This book is full of colorful drawings and B&W photographs that document the businesses, occupations, and dangers of living in Dodge City before the turn of the century. A clean very presentable copy in a Brodart mylar jacket. Dorothy Hammond (illustratore).
