Die praktische Bedeutung lässt sich in drei Bereichen nachvollziehen: (1) Begründung des Leichtbaus. Perry lieferte die theoretische Basis dafür, warum Kleben mechanischen Verbindungen (wie Nieten oder Schrauben) bei verstärkten Kunststoffen überlegen ist. Er zeigte in diesem Zusammenhang, dass das Bohren von Löchern in Glasfaser- oder Kohlefaserkunststoffe die Fasern unterbricht und das Material schwächt. Darüber hinaus beschreibt er in seiner Untersuchung wie Klebeverbindungen Spannungsspitzen minimieren, was z. B. für die strukturelle Integrität von Flugzeugen oder Fahrzeugen entscheidend ist. (2.) Standardisierung der Prozesskette. Perry's Buch etablierte praktische Richtlinien, die in modernen Industrienormen (wie DIN oder ISO) weiterleben. Zum Beispiel: Oberflächenvorbehandlung. Perry betonte die Notwendigkeit chemischer und mechanischer Reinigung, um Adhäsion erst zu ermöglichen ein Standardschritt in jeder heutigen Produktion. Aushärteparameter: die systematische Erfassung von Zeit, Druck und Temperatur als kritische Erfolgsfaktoren für die Klebschicht. (3.) Anwendung in Schlüsselindustrien: die im Buch beschriebenen Prinzipien waren wegweisend für Luft- und Raumfahrt.
