The tickets are all in fair condition, each on one side of a landscape slip of paper (all slips roughly 11 x 7 cm). All five with creases from folding. Paperback. Condizione: Good. (c. 1810-20's) Engraved musical score, bifolium (13-1/4 inches tall), pp. 4, disbound with old tape reinforcement at spine fold, paper watermarked "1810" (?). Score with edge wear including small closed tears (one enters printed area), a tiny puncture, tide mark to first leaf, minor creases, light so…il and the number "15" in pencil near top corner of p. 1. Small institutional and deaccession rubber stamps at foot of p. 4. No date or plate number, but with the publisher's address given as 20 Soho Square (London) & 7 Westmorland Street, Dublin, probable publication date is the 1810's or 1820's. This company started publishing most of Bishop's music in 1811 and Goulding's name was dropped by the firm before 1834. Henry R. Bishop became the first musician to be knighted in 1842 and composed the music for the very popular "Home! Sweet Home!" along with his great many other works. Just a single copy of "Lovely Rose" found, held by the British Library, where they show an [1816] publication date. Ref. Krummel, p. 267; Fuld, p. 274.

4 pp, 12mo. Good, on lightly-aged paper. The unnamed recipient appears to have been named as executor in a prvevious will of Sir Henry Bishop. Opens in dramatic style: 'I was very greatly surprised to receive a letter from you this morning, dated from Brighton, as my poor Brother, Sir Henry Bishop, had not the slightest idea tha…t you were still an inhabitant of this world, having heard of your death some time since, in consequence of which, he made another will similar to the one in your possession, but changing the executors'. The 'Policy of Assurance' which her correspondent mentions 'has not been kept up, indeed I understand the office has failed'. Her 'poor Brother was long an Invalid, & latterly a great sufferer', but she hopes the recipient will not 'believe, for a moment, that his relatives ever allowed him to want either the comforts, or the necessaries of life, no one could be more cared for, or attended to, by those belonging to him'. While she admits that her brother's 'pecuniary difficulties [.] might have been relieved, in a more feeling, & kind manner than they have been', her correspondent will see from the newspapers that 'his troubles in this world are at an end & I trust that our loss, will be his gain'.
