This outstanding artist more than "holds the stage" with this unaccompanied solo violin program, performed in 1979 at the Stadtkirche in Karlsruhe. REPERTOIRE: Sonata (1977, Henze - composed for Jenny Abel); Sonata No.1 in g-minor, BWV 1001 (Bach); Sonata (1944, Bartok). CONDITION: Beautiful sound for a "live" concert recording, here in a pressing with remarkably quiet surfaces - just a very few spots with minimal/negligible noise. NOTE: About a minute before the end of Side B, there is a miniscule manufacturing bump in the vinyl, causing a quiet, low thump for a dozen or so rotations. If you're tone-arm is tracking very light, there is a risk of a skip shortly thereafter. On my Stanton STR8-80 turntable, for example, it skips at 1.5 but not at 2.0. (I've graded this rare copy conservatively, so as not to disappoint even the most discerning collector.) Its jacket is bright, solid, unmarked and uncreased, with negligible shelf-wear. The LP is now in a new audiophile inner sleeve (replacing the plain original) and the entire album is nestled in a strong mylar outer sleeve. It will be cleaned again before being securely packed and promptly shipped, domestically (USA) and internationally.…

CONTENTS: Essay on Pigs, dating from 1968, sets texts by the Berlin-exiled Chilean poet Gaston Salvatore, performed/suns by Roy Hart, who - at the time - was a leading exponent of "extended vocal techniques". The double bass Concerto (1966) is stunningly performed by Gary Karr. Both works feature the English Chamber Orchestra, conducted by the composer. CONDITION: A Very Good Minus LP record [not a CD!] in a Good water-damaged gatefold jacket (with edge-, corner-, and ring-wear, plus a water-stain all along the outside edges - visible in the accompanying scan images - not obscuring any text material, however). The LP - tested and cleaned before listing - has no skips or snags, but is rather noisy, with general light-to-moderate surface noise and numerous pops. …
