Das Medaillon-Portrait von Charles Francois G. Levachez (1760-1820) in Aquatinta oder Schabkunst, die historischen Szenen in Radierung von Jean Duplessi-Bertaux (1750-1818), der im Begleittext des Werkes als "le Callot de nos jours" bezeichnet wird. - Außenränder beschnitten bis auf die äußere Einfassungslinie und leicht gebräunt, sonst gut erhalten. It was published earlier in 1788 with the title Codicille politique et pratique d'un jeune habitant d'Epone', but that edition was seized and destroyed and the present edition was done after a manuscript copy. It is a rather cynical manual for how to get ahead in the world, in which morality means little and social intercourse is mainly a movement of conflicting forces.Herault de Sechelles was born into a noble family and took part in the Revolution, a freemason he was a member of the Legislative Assembly and the Convention and participated in the drafting of the Declaration des droits de l'homme'. He was, together with his friend Danton, guillotined in 1794.
