Minimal wear to the binding, which has a removable clear mylar covering. The title of the book is taped onto the spine of the mylar. The text is a little toned. There is some splitting or cracking to the paper at the gutter towards the front of the book, but the binding is quite sound. Sikes was a Professor of History at Wake Forest College.

This essay was the twelth in a then-monthly series of published essays and lectures through the historical and political science departments of Johns Hopkins University.
