In café De Knoei vinden onder het genot van vele trappistenbiertjes diverse gebeurtenissen plaats, die niet altijd goed voor de gezondheid zijn, vele onverwachte ontmoetingen en situaties opleveren waarbij soms gewonden vallen door wat uit de hand gelopen geweld.

Met zijn allen zorgen ze voor een niet te overziene hoop helse en hilarische avonturen, de enige echte Guggenheimer meer dan waardig.

Het ik-personage en zijn vrouw proberen zich, zonder zich af te zonderen, tegen deze wereld te beschermen.
