It presents twenty-two projects, primarily competition entries and research investigations that remained largely unrealised. The work is characterised by an architecture of excess that deliberately explores grotesque, mutant and organ-like forms produced through digital design processes. The projects use biological analogies, animation techniques and science-fiction references to generate structures that reject conventional notions of beauty, structural stability and standard functionality. Software acts as a tool of morphogenesis, enabling forms to evolve from simple elements into complex, twisting spatial organisations. The schemes span multiple scales and types, including private houses, cultural facilities, towers and public installations. Each is shown through detailed computer renderings, models, sections, plans and construction studies that expose the underlying generative logic. The volume presents each scheme through extensive full-colour computer models, sections, plans and construction details that reveal the generative logic and material ambitions behind the work. Several exploratory essays accompany the visual material, reflecting on the theoretical dimensions of excess, the relationship between digital tools and architectural imagination, and the cultural implications of embracing the perverse and the unexpected in design. The book captures a significant phase in early digital architectural experimentation and remains relevant for understanding the roots of biomorphic and computationally driven design. It serves as a direct visual and conceptual resource for architects, students and researchers examining the boundaries of form-making, technology and disciplinary transgression in contemporary architecture. Hernán Díaz Alonso trained at the National University of Rosario in Argentina and at Columbia University, and later worked with Enric Miralles in Barcelona and Peter Eisenman in New York before establishing Xefirotarch in Los Angeles. His work is held in the permanent collections of SFMOMA, MoMA New York, the FRAC Centre in Orleans, the Thyssen-Bornemisza and the Art Institute of Chicago.
