Most of the illustrations are from photographs (including several lovely collotype plates and a folding panorama) . The plates are superb. Minor soiling and wear to the wrappers, particularly along the spine and at the edges. Alas, the last two leaves of text are missing at the end. Good, otherwise. An interesting volume of a leading mountaineering annual journal, published in Graz, Austria -- and edited by Heinrich Hess. The frontispiece is from a photograph of Langkofel from the Northeast. While these annuals are essential for the serious Alpinist, their range is not exclusively devoted to mountaineering and study of the Alps. There is a a 26-page account of a climbing trip to the Andes, and a major article deals with Mt. Arrara.
