Das Jüdische Museum in Frankfurt hat die Aufgabe, Zeugnisse der Geschichte und Kultur der Juden in Deutschland zu sammeln und zu präsentieren. Es knüpft dabei…an die Traditionen an, die das Museum Jüdischer Altertümer in Frankfurt seit Beginn des 20. Jahrhunderts begründet hatte. Ausgehend von den erhaltenen Ritualgegenständen des von den Nationalsozialisten zerstörten Vorgängermuseums konnte das Museum seit seiner Eröffnung 1988 eine der weltweit führenden Sammlungen von Judaica aus der jüdischen Alltagskultur und dem religiösen Leben aufbauen. Bedeutende Objekte stammen aus den Frankfurter Synagogen des 19. und 20. Jahrhunderts. Herausragende Beispiele aus Zentral- und Osteuropa kamen als Schenkungen oder Leihgaben aus Privatsammlungen, so etwa von Ignatz Bubis, Joseph Buchmann, Siegfried Baruch und Meta Gorski. Neben dem Bestandskatalog werden ausgewählte Objekte von unschätzbarem Wert aus vier Jahrhunderten jüdischen Lebens in Europa präsentiert.
