A very good copy of the first of the self-consciously mediaevalist Sheldonian Series. From the edition limited to 500 copies. The 'Sheldonian Series' published by B. H. Blackwell was of a number of 'Reprints and Renderings of Masterpieces in all Languages'. The present volume was printed 'in Oxford at The Vincent Works (Compositor, W. Alcock : Pressman, W. Cox), and finished in the December of the Fourth year of the War [sic], i.e. 1918. The book was - perhaps - intended for an American audience and was sold in New York by Longmans Green & Company.
