Daughters of Æsculapius is a rare late nineteenth-century anthology compiling creative, clinical, and reflective writings by the students and graduates of the Woman's Medical College of Pennsylvania. Published in 1897, this collection highlights pioneering female physicians in the United States, including notable contributors like medical historian Dr. Kate C. Hurd-Mead and surgeon Dr. Rosalie Slaughter Morton. From the foreword: "Originality can hardly be claimed for this publication [.] We believe, however, that this is the first book of stories by medical women." It also includes two Science Fiction stories, being "The Genius Maker" and "A Psycho-Physical Study." 1415661. Special Collections - Upstairs.
