Prima edizione
Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good. Condizione sovraccoperta: Very Good. 1st Edition. First Edition, 1979. Book measures 8.5 x 10 inches. Over 100 black-and-white images, some color; accompanied by a series of texts. This photo-journalistic work from Kenji Higuchi documents the landscapes and labours surrounding Japanese nuclear power plants; published amidst the international alarm generated by the Three Mile Island accident. The result of seven years of Higuchi's reportage; his earlier work in Yokkaichi documented the plight of air pollution victims. Kenji Higuchi's photos depict people and situations that document the nuclear lunacy of our age. For almost thirty years Higuchi has focused his camera on the nuclear industry's silent victims. Scattered across the island nation of Japan are 17 commercial nuclear power stations outfitted with 52 reactors. That makes Japan, per capita, one of the most nuclearized nations on earth. Yet, historically, there has been little public opposition to the tacit cooperation between the Japanese government and the nuclear industry. Thanks in part to Higuchi's graphic work this is beginning to change. Edges of boards and spine edges show light rubbing. Binding is solid. Dust jackets shows minimal wear to edges and faint rubbing. A well preserved copy. Very Good+ in Very Good+ dust jacket.
