Severe cracking to hinges causing boards to be loose. Frontispiece detached but still present. Pages are lightly tanned throughout. Heavier to endpapers and pastedowns. Previous owner's inscription to front free endpaper. Boards have light shelf-wear with corner bumping. Light tanning to spine and edges with crushing to spine ends. Staining to rear board.

Pages toned, especially in margins. Binding loosening with cracked gutters, fragile. We would not usually offer a book in this condition but it is a very hard to find title, and an important early school girl story; this copy will serve as a reading copy and may fill a gap in a collection until a better copy can be sourced and afforded.

Undated, dated through copies held at the University of Cambridge Libraries. In the publisher's original pictorial cloth binding.
