Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good. Condizione sovraccoperta: Good dj. First Edition. [a decent copy, minor bumping to several corners, some light dampstaining to the cloth at the bottom corners (both front and back covers); the jacket shows the dampstain externally on the rear panel and flap only, otherwise moderately edgeworn with very slight paper loss at a few corners and at base of spine]. Uncommon novel recounting the saga of one Jennie Upjohn, spanning forty years from her early life in a small village in the English Midlands, from which she and her family are "rudely uprooted by the hand of poverty," to her later life in America. She ends up in New York, where she becomes an author and magazine editor (latterly of a publication called "Woman's Angle," which she renames "Femme-Fatale" and of which she makes a big success). Early in the book, when and and her family are planning their emigration from England, they narrowly miss booking passage on the Titanic!
