Il ne cessera alors, et jusqu'à sa mort, de s'inspirer du corps de sa femme pour des sculptures, souvent monumentales, qui le mettront vite au tout premier plan des sculpteurs modernes. Ses oeuvres seront rapidement dans les plus grands musées américains.
