Aggiungi al carrelloNo Binding. Condizione: Very Good. Framed map, visible dimensions 9.75 x 15.5 inches. An early and uncommon London-published map of Indiana and Ohio extending northward into Michigan Territory and west to the Illinois border, with a detailed insert plan of Cincinnati at lower right. Issued in 1832 this map reflects British commercial and geographic interest in the rapidly developing American Old Northwest during the canal era. Counties are delineated in original outline hand color. Roads, rivers, early towns, and internal improvement routes are carefully engraved, including the Ohio State Canal connecting Lake Erie and the Ohio River. These transportation corridors were vital to settlement and trade. The inset "Plan of Cincinnati" presents the earliest street grid along the Ohio river. Condition is very good for the period. Light, even toning consistent with age; minor handling wear. Original fold lines (as issued). Color remains attractive. Presented in later wood frame with matting. Overall, a handsome and comparatively scarce British-issued map of the Old Northwest. Engraved by Fenner, Sears & Co. (illustratore).…

Aggiungi al carrello14 1/4 x 11. 1st. Map is of the entire state of Missouri but only the bottom 2/3 of Illinois. Please see photo. Both states have county delineations in place. It is interesting to note that the Illinois portion has the upper 1/3 missing. The was very little settlement in Illinois except for the area of the lead region near and including Galena. Given this fact, is actually near complete. Chicago had very few residents in 1830-1832 when this map was compiled in London. Alton is incorrectly located not at the mouth of the Illinois river and St. Louis remotely located to the South of Alton. It was from that location that the early Mississippi River was developed into a trading system subsidiary to Cincinnati. This map is a reasonably accurate depiction of the riverine highway system of early steamboat avenues of the era of internal development of the central continent. Very good condition of tis 190+ year old map. Fenner and Sears, Co. (illustratore).…

Aggiungi al carrelloCondizione: Very Good. Scarce map of Florida which (despite the title), did not become a state till 1845. The map measures approximately 9.8 x 8 in (24.9 x 20.3 cm); paper size 11 x 8.75 (28 x 22 cm). Minor spot in southern Florida (see image), otherwise a nice clean image.
